Communist voices in Cyprus are calling for an immediate halt to all ties with Israel following recent actions against Gaza.
The Communist Initiative of Cyprus (CIC) has issued a strong rebuke against the Cypriot government's collaboration with Israel during the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Under the title "Cyprus is directly involved in the Gaza massacre: Every cooperation with Israel must stop," the CIC demands an immediate cessation of all support to Israel.
The CIC's stance echoes recent remarks by Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who accused Cyprus of aiding Israeli military actions. The group maintains that Nasrallah's accusations are justified, citing Cyprus' consistent support for Israel.
In its condemnation, the CIC singles out President Nikos Christodoulides and his administration, accusing them of complicity in crimes against Palestinians and highlighting the role of British bases in the region.
Almayadeen English reported that the group also criticizes the extensive military collaboration between Cyprus and Israel, including joint exercises and training programs.
The CIC urges the Cypriot populace to join their cause against imperialism and unjust wars, aiming for disengagement from conflicts like Gaza and the removal of foreign military presence.
Their goals include disengaging Cyprus from conflicts, closing foreign military bases, ending violence in Gaza, and recognizing Palestine's independence.
The CIC concludes with a resolute call to end what they see as Cyprus' involvement in Gaza's conflict.
In response to Nasrallah's warning, the Cypriot government emphasizes its neutrality and commitment to diplomatic resolutions, rebuffing any involvement in military operations.
