Iran and Russia Discuss Israeli Threats Against Lebanon

Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani engaged in a phone discussion with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to address current developments in the region, specifically concerning threats posed by Israel towards Lebanon. Lavrov reaffirmed Russia's commitment to preventing any potential Israeli attacks on Lebanon, emphasizing the shared responsibility among all stakeholders in maintaining regional stability.

During their conversation, Bagheri Kani reiterated Lebanon's preparedness to defend itself against any aggression from Israel. He emphasized the Lebanese Resistance's capability to effectively counter Israeli actions, thereby safeguarding Lebanon from further tension and instability. This defensive stance, he argued, is crucial not only for Lebanon but also for regional and international stability, as the repercussions could extend beyond Lebanon's borders.

Bagheri Kani expressed optimism regarding the progress of important bilateral agreements between Iran and Russia. He highlighted the urgent need to finalize administrative and legal procedures related to comprehensive strategic partnerships and cooperation agreements in sectors such as gas and transit. These agreements, once completed, are expected to enhance bilateral ties and contribute positively to the economic and strategic interests of both nations.

Both ministers underscored the significance of proactive measures to prevent escalations in the region, particularly stemming from external threats like those posed by Israel. They reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at preserving peace and stability in Lebanon and the broader Middle East. 

Bagheri Kani expressed hope for swift advancements in bilateral agreements, underscoring their potential to bolster mutual cooperation and resilience against external pressures.
